Weekly Family Projects Update (Week of 09/09/24): Balancing Family, Entrepreneurship, and Hands-On Learning
We’ve always believed that hands-on work builds character, teaches valuable skills, and fosters entrepreneurship. This week, our schedule became a bit busier with the return of after-school activities like soccer, running, basketball, tennis, and nature center outings. Despite this, we managed to balance family time, hands-on projects, and even some entrepreneurial activities!
Here’s a recap of what we accomplished last week:
🌿 Landscaping:
We took on some lawn mowing duties, which brought in $100. It’s a simple but essential task that teaches consistency and the importance of maintaining a well-kept yard.
🛠 Project: Changing a Toilet Seat:
This was a smaller but important project, and we earned $20 for completing it. It’s all about tackling everyday tasks and building practical skills.
🪑 Project: Coffee Table for the Treehouse:
Our coffee table project is about 80% complete, and we’ve earned/saved $75 by getting it this far. With a total estimated value of $150, it’s been a great opportunity to teach our son how to build something useful from scratch.
🚗 Car Sharing: Listing on Turo:
We listed our family car, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, on Turo this week, as part of our ongoing strategy to generate passive income. It’s a key part of our car-sharing venture!
🍕 Entrepreneurial Skills:
Our son is learning some exciting new skills—he made pizza from scratch and even learned how to operate a bubble tea sealing machine, which will be put to use at his upcoming birthday party!
Total saved this week: $195
Total saved to date: $6,720
Each week brings us closer to our goal of financial independence and hands-on learning, preparing our son for a future shaped by AI. We’re excited to continue this journey!
