Nurturing skills for the AI era

Premise:

We, as parents, can only start to guess what will be the path to success for our 6 year old son and the kids of his generation.

Combining entrepreneurship with practical skills might be a good bet. And since our son seems to enjoy math (so far!), maybe science and engineering could be a good focus area academically.

Then, there is a passion for cars & gaming, and a keen interest in sports, baking, travel and nature as additional ingredients to build upon.

Goals:

Since school should take care of math and science, we thought we could focus on nurturing entrepreneurship and learning practical skills.

Generating passive income is a key near-term objective. And we think we could achieve this through renting sports/luxury car(s) on Turo, which aligns well with his passion (his dream is to one day own a Bugatti…).

We will weigh our options for the next steps in terms of business development when we get there, but it could include either growing a fleet of vehicles, and/or using the revenue stream for funding other ventures.

This is keeping in mind that entrepreneurial success is only secondary here, with the main goal being for our son to accumulate experiences and skills along the way.

Approach:

To get to our first goal, which is to generate passive income, we decided that we, as a family, should be working for it.

Although we don’t really feel that way, since we both hail from families of modest means, our income would statistically categorize us in the upper & wealthy class.

Thus, “working for it” in this case amounts to carry out ourselves work that other families in our neighborhood would hire people to do.

That includes: landscaping, mowing our lawn, blowing leaves, removing snow, building a fence, fixing a wood shed, etc…

This easily adds up to thousands of dollars, that we will save to fund our business ventures.

And since these concepts, and a reward that might be months away (as saving enough $ for the purchase of a car) is not always sufficient for a 6 year old, there is something else that he will be working for: screen time!

That being said, our approach is a work in progress, and we remain open to new ideas and opportunities that align with our son's interests and the evolving landscape of the AI era.

We will document our progress in this website in terms of skill building and progress towards achieving our goals.

So, join us as we embark on this exciting journey of discovery and hard work!
