10/14/24: A Milestone Week: First Tools, First Turo Rental, and Pumpkins Galore! ๐ŸŽƒ

This week marked a few exciting firsts for our family on our journey of hands-on learning, saving, and reaching our financial goals together. Weโ€™re inching ever closer to our dream of putting up our own car for rent, and this week brought us $242 closer to our goal.

New Tool in the Arsenal: Leaf Blower! ๐Ÿ‚

Our son got his very first toolโ€”a leaf blower! Watching him tackle the leaves around our yard with such enthusiasm reminded us why we started this journey. Not only is he learning responsibility, but he's also realizing that hard work can be enjoyable and rewarding. Earning $100 for his landscaping efforts, heโ€™s proudly adding to our family savings goal and getting a hands-on lesson in entrepreneurship.

First Turo Rental: A Big Step Forward ๐Ÿš—

Another major milestone this week was our very first Turo guest! We rented out our family car and earned $107. It was a bit of an adventure to bicycle 23 minutes to pick it up at the end of the rental, but it felt great knowing weโ€™re putting our assets to work for us. Passive income through car-sharing has been one of our goals, and this experience brought us one step closer.

Seasonal Harvest: Pumpkins and the Fruits of our Labor ๐ŸŽƒ

We also took some time to pick pumpkins from our garden. Itโ€™s a small but fun harvest, perfect for the season. Although it didnโ€™t add much to our savings, it reminded us of the joy that comes from growing our own food. Gardening has become a valuable part of our weekly routine, teaching our son the value of patience and persistence as he watches his hard work come to life.

This Weekโ€™s Earnings Breakdown

  • Landscaping: Blowing leaves โ€“ $100

  • Turo: First car rental โ€“ $107

  • Gardening: Pumpkin harvest โ€“ $35

Total savings to date: $7,997 ๐Ÿ†

Weโ€™re proud of how far weโ€™ve come, with each project teaching us and our son valuable lessons about commitment, money management, and the importance of enjoying the journey. Every step, no matter how small, is a step closer to our goal.
